Journal of Danubian Studies and Research is included in the following international databases (BDI): DOAJ; Proquest, EBSCO  Publishing.

Focus and Scope
The Journal of Danubian Studies and Research is a trilingual publication (English, French, and Russian) of the Danubian Studies and Research Center; it represents a scientific debate on the broad issue of the Danubian context. Although it seems circumscribed to the local area, the journal opens towards cultural studies, Europeanism, and cross-border realities, having as objective the reconstruction of an area of excellence in a significant part of Europe - the Danube Basin, with all that it implies in a high intellectual academic approach. Through the collaboration of universities in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, there are created the premises for opening towards other institutions of higher education in Central and SE Europe. We aim at having a Danubian community focused on a well defined problematic, thus creating a high-quality scientific publication.

JDSR is a blind peer-review journal. All research articles in this journal undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by at least 3 anonymous referees.

The peer-review process is essential in terms of quality as the articles that have undertaken the process are considered highly credible because they have undergone scrutiny by experts with particular knowledge in the topic. The primary aims of peer review are 2-fold: to decide whether or not an article should be published (based on quality and relevance to the journal), and to improve the article before publication.

FEE

The journal does not charge authors to publish their work.

Peer Review Process

Internal Peer Review Process

All submissions first go through an internal peer-review process. Each submission is being verified by an Anti-Plagiarism Software, and there are accepted for further reviewing only the ones that do not exceed 20-25% of information taken from other sources. The editorial secretary makes an -initial decision to send the manuscript out for peer review or to reject it without external review. Articles can be rejected at this stage for a variety of reasons such as 10-15% of information taken from other sources, the similarity with a recently published article, the topic is outside of the scope of the Journal, little new information is provided, important flaws in the scientific validity, or an unprofessional presentation. This process normally takes 2 days. If the editor believes the article may be of interest to our readers, it is then sent out for external peer review.

External Peer Review Process

The editors upon consulting the editorial board identify potential reviewers based on their expertise in the field, rigor and scientific methodology. Three-four reviewers are thus identified for each submitted manuscript.

When asked to be a Referee for an article submitted to JDSR Journal, the title, the abstract of the article and a suggested deadline will be provided.

If this task is accepted by the Referee within the platform, the article (in anonymous form) will be reviewed within the deadline provided by the editor. Normally the deadline for the review is 2 weeks.

The Editorial team wants to emphasize, that reviews should take a constructive approach to its points of criticism in order to facilitate dialogue and the development of the texts. The Editor may return to authors without review any manuscript deemed to be of inadequate quality or inappropriate.

The Referee is asked to number each element of the review in order to facilitate the dialogue between the author(s), Editor and Referees about revisions, etc. Likewise, it is important that the arguments in the review are specified. All reviews must be provided in English. The reviewer has to decide if the paper is to be accepted for publication with or without modifications. Also, the reviewer may present some personal comments about the paper (if appropriate).

Please use the JDSR Review Form for your reviews and comments. The reviews are sent to the Editor, through the JDSR platform.

The information from the reviewers and editors are gathered and the corresponding author will receive an e-mail with either the acceptance notification with the results of the paper review containing all aspects to be modified, improved, and added or decline notification with the results of the paper review; in case of accepted article, the Editor sets a deadline for the return of a revised version (if a revision is called for).  All notified modifications are obligatory for the paper to be published. The Editor can decide if the second round of reviews is necessary after the revision of the article, normally with a deadline of 7 days.

The online platform facilitates the reviewing process by keeping into archive all reviews for each reviewer and each reviewed article for each author.

The reviewing process can only be performed if the author subscribes to the article on the platform.
