The Usage of Phraseologisms in Two Similar Fairy Tales Authored by Ispirescu and Creangă
Abstract
Phraseologies are a source of expressiveness for literary works, and fairy tales, as texts of
folk origin, make the most of this means of artistic expression. Ion Creangă and Petre Ispirescu
capitalize differently on the literary and linguistic folk background tributary to the Romanian cultural
traditions, both proving their mastery and a special linguistic sense. Despite the common folk
background, the literary universe created by each of the two aforementioned writers takes on different
nuances. Starting from two fairy tales with a similar subject, I will make an inventory of the existent
phraseologisms, comparing their occurrences and analysing their use in the texts under study.
