Abstract

This study aims at exploring the way in which the Romanian sports chronicle, during the communist era, went beyond the limits of the traditional journalism, evolving into a new form of literary art under the influence of Ioan Chirilă’s and Fănuș Neagu’s narrative styles. Through the stylistic analysis of their texts, this article will prove that the sports chronicle functioned as a subtle means of social critique and also as an expression of creative liberty in a context dominated by severe censorship.
